To bite into
The meaning of the infinitive לִנְגּוֹס is to take a bite. The Hebrew word "בִּיס" (bite) translates as נְגִיסָה in Hebrew.
מַשְׁמָעוּתוֹ שֶׁל שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל לִנְגּוֹס הִיא ל ָקַחַת בִּיס. וְהַמִּילָּה בִּיס בְּעִבְרִית פֵּירוּשָׁהּ נְגִיסָה.
I love biting into fresh, warm bread, especially Shabbat Challah. If you've ever bitten into a popsicle, you probably felt a strong chill in your teeth.
אֲנִי אוֹהֶבֶת לִנְגּוֹס בְּלֶחֶם טָרִי וְחַם וּבִמְיוּחָד בְּחַלָּה שֶׁל שַׁבָּת.
אִם יָצָא לָכֶם לִנְגּוֹס בְּאַרְטִיק, בְּוַדַּאי הִרְגַּשְׁתֶּם קוֹר חָזָק בַּשִּׁינַּיִם.
When setting a mouse trap, I place a piece of cheese or sausage in the trap so that the mouse will come to bite it and get caught.
