Iris - Irises
The name of the flower is Iris or Irus, and according to the Academy of the Hebrew Language, both terms can be used.
שְׁמוֹ שֶׁל הַפֶּרַח הוּא אִירוּס אוֹ אִירִיס וּלְפִי הָאָקָדֶמְיָה לְלָשׁוֹן עִבְרִית אֶפְשָר לְהִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ בִּשְׁנֵיהֶם.
Hippocrates named the flower after the Greek goddess Iris, who was the goddess of the rainbow and the messenger of the gods.
הִיפּוֹקְרָטֶס נָתַן אֶת הַשֵּׁם לַפֶּרַח עַל שְׁמָהּ שֶׁל הָאֵלָה הַיְּוָנִית אִירִיס, שֶׁהָיְתָה אֵלַת הַקֶּשֶׁת בְּעָנָן וּשְׁלִיחַת הָאֵלִים.
The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh created the famous painting "Irises," and the Italian composer Pietro Mascagni wrote an opera named "Iris."
הַצַּיָּר הַהוֹלַנְדִּי, וִינְסֵנְט וָאן גּוֹךְ, צִיֵּר אֶת הַצִּיּוּר הַיָּדוּעַ "אִירִיסִים" והַמַּלְחִין הָאִיטַלְקִי פְּיֶטְרוֹ מַסְּקָאנִי כָּתַב אוֹפֶּרָה בְּשֵׁם "אִירִיס".
The Iris flower serves as the symbol of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel. This organization works to preserve nature and the environment.

4. The Iris is a protected flower because it is endangered, and therefore it is forbidden to pick it.
