Bitter
We recognize the bitter taste in olive oil and dark chocolate.
אֶת הַטַּעַם הַמַּר אֲנַחְנוּ מַכִּירִים בְּשֶׁמֶן זַיִת וּבְשׁוֹקוֹלָד מָרִיר.
During the Passover Seder, we have maror (bitter herbs) on the Seder plate to remind us how bitterly the Egyptians treated us in the land of Egypt.
בְּלֵיל הַסֵּדֶר יֵשׁ לָנוּ עַל צַלַּחַת הַפֶּסַח מָרוֹר כְּדֵי שֶׁנִּזְכּוֹר כַּמָּה מֵרְרוּ הַמִּצְרִים אֶת חַיֵּינוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם.
Sometimes, when we do something or go somewhere and experience something unpleasant there, we come home and say, "It left a bitter taste."
לִפְעָמִים, כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ עוֹשִׂים מַשֶּׁהוּ אוֹ הוֹלְכִים לְאֵיזֶשֶׁהוּא מָקוֹם וְקוֹרֶה מַשֶּׁהוּ לֹא נָעִים שָׁם, אֲנַחְנוּ חוֹזְרִים הַבַּיְתָה וְאוֹמְרִים: "נִשְׁאַר לָנוּ טַעַם מַר".
