Did you know that Shavuot is also called the holiday of the Giving of the Torah (Matan Torah, from the verb "to give")?
הַאִם אַתֶּם יוֹדְעִים שֶׁחַג הַשָּׁבוּע וֹת נִקְרָא גַּם חַג מַתָּן (שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל: לָתֵת) תּוֹרָה?
The people of Israel stood before Mount Sinai in the desert to receive the Torah. So why is Shavuot not called the Festival of Receiving the Torah?
בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עָמְדוּ לִפְנֵי הַר סִינַי בַּמִּדְבָּר כְּדֵי לְקַבֵּל אֶת הַתּוֹרָה.
אָז לָמָּה חַג הַשָּׁבוּעוֹת לֹא נִקְרָא חַג קַבָּלַת הַתּוֹרָה?
God gave the Torah to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai, but they were not truly ready to receive it.
ה' נָתַן אֶת הַתּוֹרָה לְעַם יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּהַר סִינַי, אֲבָל עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא הָיָה מַסְפִּיק מוּכָן בֶּאֱמֶת לְקַבֵּל אוֹתָהּ.
In other words, the faith of the people of Israel had to undergo many more trials before they were fully prepared to accept the Torah.
כְּלוֹמַר הָאֱמוּנָה שֶׁל עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל צְרִיכָה לַעֲבוֹר עוֹד הַרְבֵּה מִבְחָנִים כְּדֵי שֶׁהֵם יִהְיוּ מוּכָנִים בֶּאֱמֶת לְקַבֵּל אֶת הַתּוֹרָה.
Here are some sentences using the infinitive "to receive":
הִנֵּה כַּמָּה מִשְׁפָּטִים עִם שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל 'לְקַבֵּל':
1. The manager requested to receive an organized report on the project to check its progress and plan the next steps.

2. Before traveling abroad, it is important to receive updated weather information about the destination to pack appropriate clothing.

3. When facing changes in life, one must know how to accept them and adapt to new situations wisely.
3. כְּשֶׁמִּתְמוֹדְדִים עִם שִׁינּוּיִים בַּחַיִּים, צָרִיךְ לָדַעַת לְקַבֵּל אוֹתָם וּלְהִסְתַּגֵּל לְמַצָּבִים חֲדָשִׁים בְּצוּרָה חֲכָמָה.
4. Sometimes one side gives, but the other side is unable to receive.
