מִלְחָמָה - War

נִלְחַם בְּטַחֲנוֹת רוּחַ

When the cannons roar the muses are silent

כְּשֶׁהַתּוֹתָחִים רוֹעֲמִים הַמּוּזוֹת שׁוֹתְקוֹת

The best defense is offense

הַהֲגָנָה הַטּוֹבָה בְּיוֹתֵר הִיא הַהַתְקָפָה

A war lost from the beginning

מִלְחָמָה אֲבוּדָה מֵרֹאשׁ

Winds of war blow

נוֹשְׁבוֹת רוּחוֹת מִלְחָמָה

Let no one who puts on the belt (of war) praise himself as the one who takes it off

אַל יִתְהַלֵּל חוֹגֵר כִּמְפַתֵּחַ

Won the battle but lost the war

נִצֵּחַ בַּקְּרָב אֲבָל הִפְסִיד בַּמִּלְחָמָה
